Three fires started outside Spokane on August 1. Old Trails, Autumn Lane, Fairview. By the end of that week around 65,000 people had been told to get out.
Some people drove the other way.
We’re not going to write a poem about it. We install air conditioners. So that’s what we’re giving away, free, to one person who worked those fires and comes home to a house that doesn’t cool.
Nominate yourself. Nominate the neighbor who’d never bring it up. We read all of them.

Who qualifies
All four have to be true. It’s strict because this is a straight changeout, and we’d rather be clear now than let somebody down in October.
They worked the August fires
Firefighter, EMT, medic, dispatcher, or other emergency response. Career or volunteer, paid or not, still working or retired since. Old Trails, Autumn Lane, and Fairview all count, and so does working it from a station or a dispatch center.
They own the house and live in it
We’re bolting equipment to it, so it can’t be a rental or a second place. We’ll ask for proof of ownership before we install.
It’s in our service area
Spokane, Spokane Valley, Airway Heights, Mead, Cheney, Deer Park, Medical Lake, Liberty Lake, and Freeman. Washington only this time.
It’s already set up for central air
Either an old AC unit we’re replacing, or a furnace with the ducts and electrical already there. Straight changeout. No cut-ins, no mini-splits, no ductwork.

A tech comes out and measures. Required. It’s how we know we can actually do the job.
Through Sept 29We install it
Recipient announced September 30. The system goes in during October.
Sept 30, install in OctReady to nominate?
Yourself or somebody else. If it’s somebody else, we’ll reach out to them before anything happens. We pick the recipient, so this isn’t random.
Questions
Can I nominate someone without telling them?
My house doesn’t have ducts.
Is there a catch?
I work for a fire district. Can I even accept this?
Is this a marketing stunt?
The fine print
No purchase necessary and nothing to buy, ever. To be considered, the nominee must be a firefighter, EMT, paramedic, dispatcher, or other emergency responder who worked the August 2026 Spokane area fires (Old Trails, Autumn Lane, or Fairview), career or volunteer. The nominee must be 18 or older, must own and live in the home, the home must be in the Washington portion of Bearcat’s service area, and the home must already be set up for central air conditioning. Idaho homes are not eligible for this giveaway. This is a like-for-like changeout. No full cut-ins, no mini-splits, no new ductwork, no electrical panel upgrades, no furnace replacement.
An in-home measurement by a Bearcat technician is required before anyone is selected. If the survey finds the home needs work outside the scope above, that home is not eligible and we will move to the next candidate.
Bearcat selects the recipient at its sole discretion. This is not a random drawing and it is not a contest. Bearcat is not obligated to explain a decision or to select any recipient if no nomination qualifies. One system will be awarded. The system has no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged. Bearcat may substitute equipment of equal or greater value.
The fair market value of the installed system is taxable income to the recipient. Bearcat will issue an IRS Form 1099 and will require a completed Form W-9 before installation. The recipient is solely responsible for all taxes. Bearcat does not provide tax advice.
Recipients should confirm that accepting this gift complies with their employer’s gift and ethics policy. This gift is not offered in exchange for and is not contingent on any official action, referral, endorsement, or contract by any nominee, department, or agency.
Information collected through the nomination form is used only to administer this program. It is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing. Nominees who are not selected are never named publicly. Employees, owners, and officers of Bearcat and their immediate family and household members are not eligible. Installation is subject to permitting, inspection, equipment availability, and weather. Bearcat may modify, suspend, or cancel this program at any time. Void where prohibited. Governed by the laws of the State of Washington, with exclusive jurisdiction in Spokane County.
This program is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, Meta, Trane Technologies, or any fire department, fire district, hospital, or government agency.
